Walking Training Log

I've just added a Walking Training Log widget in the sidebar; this is mainly for me to help keep track of the walking I will be doing over the next 3 months.

The widget is for a website called dailymile which is a social training site, it will help me keep on the straight & narrow (hopefully!).

I have also been think about using the Wii Fit Game to see if I can use it for extra workouts, it has Strength Training, Aerobics, Yoga and Balance Games. The more interesting one's look to be the Aerobic and Strength Training but I need to look into this more.

The walking starts on Tuesday.

Run Fat Boy Run

I don't run, never have. That's not strictly true; I probably last ran when I was about 24-25 and that was only over distances of 20-30 yards; cricket was a nice easy game.

Back to the point; I know I'm overweight, I know I could do with losing a few pounds but making the effort to do so is........well an effort.

But knowing I was probably going to get on the TGO Challenge (yes; it another TGOC post, expect more in the coming weeks), I decided to try and lost some weight and doing some actual walking looked like a good idea.

So back in September; I started walking to work, two days a week. The distance for each day was just shy of 6 miles; 5.9 to be exact.

I did this for 9 weeks which added up to 108 miles. 108 MILES!

The weight must of been dropping off me; right.

WRONG!!!!!!!

In all that time and mileage I lost 5 pounds.

I did feel fitter but not losing weight is the biggest issue for me.

I do like the odd bag of crisps and bit of cake but I cut these out during the 9 weeks and ate sensible food during the period, as I really wanted this to work.

I can see why people can get frustrated with diets and give up.

Anyways from next week I'm starting out again and hopefully I can lose my 2oz a day.

Guess Who's Back?

Hello World

Miss me?

Thought not.

It seems as though there is just over a 100 days or so before the start of the TGO challenge for this year; so I thought, it's time for an update.

The route has been vetted; my vetter did give me a couple of new ideas for camping and a slight change of route which I will probably use.

I'm on the lookout for some new equipment before the challenge and have started acquiring it; The first new bit is a new pair of waterproof trousers.

I usually use a pair of Peter Storm trousers but didn't feel that these would be up to two weeks across Scotland, so have bought a nice pair of Berghaus Paclite
Pants. They only weigh 185 g, pack down really small and are a whole 200g lighter than the Peter Storm's.

These are the most expensive waterproofs I have ever bought but they seem much better than the previous one's I've owned.

They have 3/4 length zips on the legs; so make it much easier to put on over boots, they also so help to vent the legs.
